Wellness Consultant

The Employers’ Association (EA), a regional non-profit organization providing HR Resources and Wellness Services to over 800 members, is seeking a Wellness Consultant for the Columbus, OH area.

The Wellness Consultant will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing comprehensive wellness programs for employers. This position involves assessing the health needs of employees, designing tailored wellness initiatives, and promoting a culture of well-being within the organization. The Wellness Consultant will collaborate with HR departments, management, and employees to create strategies that enhance employee health, reduce healthcare costs, and improve overall productivity.

Key Responsibilities

Assessment and Analysis

  • Conduct thorough assessments of the current health status and wellness needs of employees.
  • Analyze data from health risk assessments, biometric screenings, employee surveys, and engagement reports.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of wellness programs.
  • Prepare detailed reports and present findings to stakeholders.

Program Design and Implementation

  • Develop customized wellness programs based on assessment findings and organizational goals.
  • Implement initiatives such as fitness challenges, stress management workshops, nutrition education, and smoking cessation programs.
  • Ensure programs are inclusive, accessible, and culturally sensitive.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends, research, and best practices in workplace wellness.

Employee Engagement

  • Promote wellness programs through effective communication strategies.
  • Organize and facilitate wellness events, workshops, and seminars.
  • Encourage employee participation and provide ongoing support and motivation.

Collaboration and Partnership

  • Work closely with HR, management, and external vendors to coordinate wellness activities.
  • Promote wellness to all levels of the organization.

Compliance and Regulations

  • Ensure wellness programs comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in handling employee health information.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion, Public Health, Nutrition, Exercise Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Certification as a Wellness Coach, Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), Certified Wellness Practitioner (CWP) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in corporate wellness, health promotion, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of health behavior change theories and wellness program design.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and create actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in using technology, including Microsoft Office Suite and wellness platforms and tools.
  • Passion for promoting health and well-being in the workplace.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • This position is mostly designed as a home office position, with some time spent at member sites or the primary EA office. As a standard office position, it will typically require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk using computers, phones and other office equipment.  Extensive travel to member locations will be required including both local and regional travel.  This may also require occasional early mornings, late evenings or overnight stays.
  • While the position typically requires minimal physical activity throughout the day, there might occasionally be a need to move or lift objects of no more than 30 lbs.
  • This position requires the employee to communicate well in person, telephone, or on various other electronic media sources.
