Leads are on the “front lines” of what really happens in today’s organizations.
Increasingly companies rely on the group leader to accomplish goals in production, service, quality, and customer satisfaction. Many group leaders have limited formal training in leading others, and face a formidable obstacle of resistance encountered from peers and supervisors who “put them to the test.”
Group leaders are expected to guide the activities of individuals in their work group to achieve expected results. In doing this, group leaders must demonstrate a variety of skills to motivate employees while sometimes having limited formal authority over the employees. Being able to influence others, achieve employee commitment to work effectively, and handle performance issues are important skills group leaders need to possess.
